Madonna Hines, 87, of Beal City, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Woodland Hospice House with her family by her side. Madonna was born February 9, 1932, in Beal City, Michigan, daughter of the late Henry Andrew and Leona Eleanor (Cassidy) Ley. She was welcomed into the home by nine siblings, Irene, Helen, Joe, Beulah, Clarence, Kenneth, Edward, Leroy, and Gladys. She would later welcome her younger siblings, Aletha and Henry. A 1950 graduate of Beal City High School, Donna married Ivan Hines on September 6, 1952, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. She was a seamstress and made draperies for Shirley Bragg for several years and on her own for a total of 28 years. She also spent many hours crocheting. Donna was comfortable at home and enjoyed her family and all the cooking, cleaning and laundry that came with it. She took great joy in watching her sons participate in sports and, in later years, it was the grandchildren that kept her busy and happy. Madonna enjoyed spending time at the Eagle’s Club in Weidman where she often line-danced, right up until four months ago. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Beal City and the Council of Catholic Women. Donna is survived by six children, Roxann Reed of Mt. Pleasant, Jeff Hines of North Carolina, Brad (Judy) Hines of Mayville, Marty (Jan) Hines of Mt. Pleasant, Rochelle (Terri) Llagostera of Houston, TX, and Rob (Sue) Hines of Mt. Pleasant; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan Hines (2006); and all 11 siblings. A Funeral Mass for Donna will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held as celebrant. Immediately following, all are invited to a luncheon at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 4:00-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church or Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home.
