Ada Andres Smith, 88, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Beal City passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at Margarets Meadows. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Thomas J. McNamara presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Friday from 9-9:30 a.m. There will be no visitation at the church prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or Alzheimers Association. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Ada was born June 21, 1918, in Beal City, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Dole) Tilmann. She graduated from St. Philomena School in Beal City. On April 30, 1938, she married Alvin Andres at St. Philomena Church. Together they owned and operated Wyman Oil Company until his death in 1966. She later worked at the food commons at Central Michigan University for eight years, retiring in 1977. On September 3, 1977 she married Don Smith of Farwell. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Altar Society and Christian Service, volunteering on funeral dinners, and a former member of St. Joseph in Beal City and St. Leo in Winn. She also belonged to the Women of the Moose in Mt. Pleasant. Ada is survived by six children, Romana (Arvid) Crane of Raleigh, NC, Paulette (John) Green of Mt. Pleasant, Randahl (Margie) Andres of San Diego, CA, Alan (Debra) Andres of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Ann (Marty) Spence of Mt. Pleasant, and Teresa (John) Ouderkirk of Grand Ledge; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl (Lucille) Tilmann of Beal City; and three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tilmann of Elkhart, IN, Erma Tilmann of Mt. Pleasant, and Margaret Andres of Big Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Alvin in 1966 and Don Smith in 1992; four brothers, Carl, Aloysius, Richard, and Donald Tilmann; and her sister, Edwardine Pung.
