Alice G. Paisley

Alice Paisley, 98, of Boyne City and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008 in Boyne City. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 19, from 1-2 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 2 p.m. with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Those desiring may make a donation to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Lux Funeral Home. Alice was born Feb. 14, 1910, the eighth child of William and Sarah (McDonnell) Paisley. For many years she lived on the farm with her parents and her brother, Johnny. As a young girl she rode in a horse-drawn buggy. In time she and Johnny moved to town. The house they lived in years later, under new owners, was the Taylor Teahouse. She was a superb cook and baker and took great pride and satisfaction in preparing a delicious homemade meal. Since her retirement from Larzelere Hall on the campus of Central Michigan University, she has been a member of MARSP. She continued to work at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility where ample TLC was given to those cared for by Alice. She treasured her faith and her day began by attending daily Mass at Sacred Heart. Her rosary, when not wrapped in her hands, was always within reach. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a big fan of the Fighting Irish . In the fall she looked forward to going with her nephew, Paisly Clark and wife, Vivian, to the MSU vs. Notre Dame football game and there was never any doubt who she wanted to win. In 1996 Alice moved to Lansing to live with her sister, Cecilia Clark and her niece, Sarah Sally . Since 2000 she has enjoyed the best of two worlds; winters in Homestead, FL and summers in Northern Michigan at Horton Bay with her twin nieces, Sally and Sue Schack and husband, Ed. Surviving Alice are a sister, Mildred McNicholas of Park Ridge, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and many longtime friends. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Arthur Frank (1950), John (1975) and Charles Paisley (1991); and four sisters, Marguerite Paisley (1934) Mary Elizabeth May Gray (1987), Cecilia Clark (2000) and Josephine Curran (2004). Alice has gone home to be with her heavenly family in joy forever, and each, in our own way, will miss her and remember her. Farewell, our Valentine, love you forever.
