Andrew Cascarelli, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, peacefully passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for Andy will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Forgotten Eagles or the charity of choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Andy was born March 15, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Samuel and Rose (Catarina) Cascarelli. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 during World War II where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He received a bachelors degree in Business from Central Michigan University and on September 6, 1953, married the love of his life, Eleanor Brastrom in Cadillac. For years Andy owned and operated both Cascarellis in downtown Mt. Pleasant and Cascarellis West on High Street. He was also in partnership with the Blackstone Bar and A & J Laundromat. He also sold securities for the General Agency. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 3033, and Stock Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was inducted into the Mt. Pleasant Bowlers Hall of Fame. Andy is survived by six children, Sandy (Gary) Leftwich of Cadillac, Sam Cascarelli of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Jo (Ashe) Cascarelli-Wahba of Atascadero, CA, Dave (Mary) Cascarelli of Mt. Pleasant, Andrea (Marty) Salisbury of Mt. Pleasant and Angela (Mark) Linton of Midland; nine grandsons, Dominic Cascarelli, Andrew Cascarelli, Harry Manno, Nathanael Leftwich, Luke Salisbury, Ibrahim Wahba, Adam Salisbury, Shereef Wahba, and Sameer Wahba; sister, Angeline Fredrick of Nashville, TN; and sister-in-law, Jane Cascarelli of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eleanor in 1976; wife Charlotte; sister, Mary Blubaugh in 2015; and brother, Joseph Cascarelli in 2016.
