Andrew S. Simmer

Andrew Simmer, 59, of Beal City passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 2, 2017, at his home. A Funeral Mass for Andrew will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Thomas Held as celebrant. Following Mass, burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery concluding with a luncheon at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Andrew was born July 16, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant, son of Gerald and Margaret (Straus) Simmer. A graduate of Beal City High School in 1976, Andrew was employed as a meat cutter at Smith & Sons in Mt. Pleasant. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching sports, playing cribbage, fishing, and collecting coins. Andrew is survived by his mother, Margaret; brother, David (Chris) Simmer of Beal City; two nephews, Troy (Rachelle) Simmer of Mt. Pleasant and Travis Simmer (Kristin Sherrill) of Cadillac; great-nephew, Gavin Simmer; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Simmer in 1991.
