Annabelle Powell, 93, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at Bishop Hills Elder Care in Rockford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Cremation will take place following and her cremains will be buried at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday from 11-11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Annabelle was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Collins, NY, the daughter of Ernest and Marie (Bursyck) Horton. She married Wilton B. Powell on June 27, 1937 in Clare County. She graduated from Farwell High School in 1931 and then received her R.N. from Flint Hurley School of Nursing. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the C.M.C.H. Ladies Auxiliary and also volunteered for the YMCA and the Commission on Aging. Annabelle was also a supporter of breast cancer awareness as she, herself, defeated breast cancer in the early 1980s. Annabelle is survived by two children, Robert Powell of Mt. Pleasant and Marcia Powell of Comstock Park; five grandchildren, Diane Feenstra of Kalamazoo, Patrick (Ellen) Doyle of Caledonia, Carrie Doyle of Ferndale, Michael (Lisa) Doyle of Glenview, IL, and Robert Doyle of Detroit; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Brendan Feenstra and Remy and Beckett Doyle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton in 1979; a daughter, Suzanne Marie Doyle in 1982; and her parents.
