Anne Elizabeth Strauss, 78, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for Anne will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. with a rosary at 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation (P.O. Box 522, Mt. Pleasant MI 48804-0522) or Isabella County Commission on Aging (2200 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant MI 48858). Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Anne was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Rosebush, daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Helen (Doherty) McConnell. She married Michael Strauss on Feb. 9, 1957, at St. Henry Catholic Church. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1954 and was a very active member of Sacred Heart Parish, singing in the church choir for many years. She was employed as a secretary for Bernard Jones Oil and Gas and also as a data collector for the U.S. Census Bureau. She attended many Sacred Heart sporting events over the years, especially those of her grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Catholic Daughters, and Knights of Columbus ladies auxiliary. Anne is survived by four children, Lorraine Malone of Griffith, IN, Mick (Pia) Strauss of Bel Air, MD, Carolyn Cardon of Mt. Pleasant, and Tim (Ella) Strauss of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren, Sean, Steven and Robert Malone, Michael (Veronica) Strauss and Johnathan Strauss, Sarah, Jim, Caitlin and Julia Cardon, and Christopher and Nicholas (Jessica) Strauss; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Thomas (Maureen) McConnell of Bloomfield Hills; sister-in-law, Eleanor McConnell of Portland; two brothers-in-law, Bill Faber of Beal City and Ned Hawkins of DeWitt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike in 1995; brother, Bernard Joseph McConnell; sisters, Kay Faber and Helen Hawkins; and son-in-law, Edmund Patrick Malone.
