Ardith Mae Hamilton

Ardith Mae Hamilton, age 77, of Mecosta, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018. She was born March 19, 1941, in Dearborn, Michigan, daughter of the late Frank and Ardelia (Kaufman) Coleman. She was a regular member of the Free Methodist Church of Mecosta, and very well known in the community as a cook, formerly working as the main cook in multiple establishments including the Remus Tavern and Ma and Pas Restaurant of Remus. Ardith was a very loving and generous mother and grandmother, and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, shopping, cooking for family and larger crowds, and loved going to church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ardelia Coleman; husbands George Bixman Sr. and Jimmy Hamilton, and oldest grandson Michael. Ardith is survived by her four children, Bertha McPherson, George Bixman, Helene Thompson, and Joseph Bixman; many grandchildren including Hope, Roxanna, Crystal, Mandy, Hannah, Dennis, Joey; 13 great-grandchildren; and all of their extended families. Memorial services will be held at the Free Methodist Church of Mecosta, 101 E Main St, on December 1st at 3 pm. officiated by Pastor Dar Howard. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in honor of Ardith.
