Arthur Silverberg,80, ofBoynton Beach, Florida and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, August 25, 2007 in Florida. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Riverside Cemetery, 800 W. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant. Following the service, the family will receive guests from 3-5 p.m.at the Comfort Inn, 2424 S. Mission, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan (401 S. Main, Mt. Pleasant MI 48858), Hadassah (c/o Janet Kimmel, 7181 Haviland Circle, Boynton Beach FL 33437), or to the charity of choice. Born in Poland, he survived the Holocaust while fighting with the Partisans (WWII Polish Freedom Fighters) against Nazi Germany. Arthur came to America in 1946 and lived the "American Dream". Arthur moved his family to Mt. Pleasant in the early 1960's and opened the Dart Store, Mt. Pleasant's first discount store, which later became Arthur's Catalog Showroom. This store was a mainstay on Mission Street for many years serving the Mt. Pleasant community. Arthur was well-respected throughout the community as a local merchant, property owner and supporter of many local charitable activities. His wonderful sense of humor and love of history endeared him to the Mt. Pleasant community where he spent many of the happiest years of his life. Arthur Silverberg is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frances (nee Weiner), proud children, Susanne Pinzur (Robert), Steven (Janet) and Annette Roth (Robert). He also had seven adoring grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa", Geri Rosenberg (Seth), Jamie Manewith (Bradley), Carly Pinzur, Daniel Silverberg, David Silverberg, Stephanie Silverberg and Sydney Roth as well as his great granddaughter, Hallie Manewith.
