Arthur R. Thomas, 87, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of York, PA passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at McLaren Central Michigan. Cremation has taken place and his cremated remains will be interred in York, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Psychology Department at Central Michigan University (Sloan 101A, CMU, Mt. Pleasant MI 48859). Arthur was born October 17, 1929, in Nyack, NY, son of the late Arthur Raymond Sr. and Christine (Dann) Thomas. A graduate of the York, PA public school system, Art received his baccalaureate from Princeton University, his master's degree from Brown and his PhD from Northwestern. Dr. Thomas taught in the Psychology Department at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV before joining CMU as an associate professor in 1969. He became a full professor in 1971 and retired in 1994. He is survived by a brother, Donald B. Thomas (and his wife, Janet) of Chapel Hill, NC; a sister, Christine T. Dunbar (and her husband, David) of Allentown, PA; and several nieces, a nephew, and grand nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
