Austin Larry Smallwood, age 60, of Remus formerly of Monroe passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at home.
Larry was born to Nolan and Verda (Collingsworth) Smallwood on November 10, 1952 in Sullivan, Indiana. He was raised in the Monroe area. On June 25, 1971 Larry married the loved of his life, Valerie Colton in Monroe. He worked at Leonard Collision in Detroit before moving to Remus in 1983. Larry then worked for Bookwalter Motor Sales and Preferred Collision, retiring in 2011.
Larry is survived by his wife, Valerie; children, Jennifer (David) Skinner and Daniel (Stephanie) Smallwood; six grandchildren, Raymond, Rebecca,and Quinn Steele and Trenton, Elijah, and Katelynn Smallwood; father, Nolan Smallwood; brothers and sisters, Harry (Lucille) Smallwood, Jerry Smallwood, Johnnie Smallwood, Ada (Richard) Coleman, Jan (Lloyd) Steffens and Betty (Norman) Tylutki; brother-in-law Sam Mabe.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Verda; brother, Tom Smallwood; and a sister Rose Mabe.
A memorial service in Larry's honor will be held at the Fork Township Community Center in Barryton at 2:00 p.m. on December 8, 2012 with Elder John Houghton officiating the service.
Memorial donations in Larry's honor can be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the Center.
The family has entrusted arrangements to Maier Family Funeral Home in Weidman 989-644-5000.
