Barbara A. Conley, 60, of Remus passed away Monday, April 8, 2002 at her home. Cremation has taken place and her memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Lux Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Barbs family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot Area Hospice. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Contributions may also be sent by mail to Gratiot Area Hospice, 300 E. Warwick Dr., Alma, MI 48801. Barb was born March 16, 1942, in Edmore, the daughter of Ernest and Wilma (Thrush) Monthei. She was later adopted by Ivone Pat Gibbs. She married Dr. Walter Kenneth Conley, D.V.M., July 24, 1971 in McBain. She and her husband co-owned Walter Kenneth Conley Sr., D.V.M. Veterinary Clinic until his death in 1995. She was also co-owner of Mt. Pleasant Meadows. Barb loved raising, breeding, and training racehorses. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, and listening to country music. Barb leaves behind her son, Patrick Rick (Jeanie) McClain of Farwell; two grandchildren, Lynnann and Dylan Thomas McClain; her sister, Yvonne (J. Bernard) Navarre of Lake; her brother, Larry (Altheta) Gibbs of Alabama; niece, Kelly (Roger) Martin of Crystal; and nephews, Kirk and Steve Gibbs of Alaska and Troy Navarre of Cresent Springs, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Dr. Walter Kenneth Conley.
