Barbara Ann Daniel passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, at her residence in Mt. Pleasant with her family by her side. Born on August 25, 1936, she was the eldest of 8 children born to Ivan and Agnes (Grove) Palmer. She welcomed her younger siblings: Jeannette, Dan, Patricia, Glenda, John, Rodney, and Roy. In the 89 years that gently unfolded between those two dates, Barbara filled her life and the lives of those dear to her with laughter, warmth, and an unwavering love.

Barbara was a proud graduate of St. Louis High School, class of 1956. Just a year after her graduation, on September 14, 1957, she married Albert Daniel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alma. Together they built a loving home and raised three cherished children, Mary, Eugene, and Sherry. Barbara’s marriage to Albert was the foundation for a life shaped by devotion to family, hospitality, and spirited adventure.

Barbara was known to many as a “spitfire". Her quick wit, infectious humor, and hardworking nature became her trademark qualities. She could light up a room with her laughter, and she brought a sense of fun and vibrancy wherever she went. Her fierce love for her family was evident in every thoughtful gesture and in the pride she took in her home. Barbara’s ability to work hard never diminished her capacity to be present for those she loved; she was always ready to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a plate of her famous homemade noodles.

Professionally, Barbara was diligent and dependable. She worked at several stores through the years, but perhaps found her greatest vocational fulfillment during her 14 years at Walmart, where she touched the lives of colleagues and customers alike with her friendly manner and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Barbara was a woman of many interests. Music held a special place in her heart, with melodies of Vince Gill and Danny O'Donnell often playing in the background of family gatherings and quiet afternoons. She had a particular fondness for the Grand Ole Opry and treasured memories of traveling with her husband. These adventures included trips to Florida, Hawaii, and the bright lights of Las Vegas. But, more than any distant destination, it was the closeness of her family that brought her the purest joy. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where laughter mingled with the aroma of her delicious meals, and her homemade noodles became legendary among family and friends.

Barbara leaves behind a devoted family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her children, Mary (Dave) Russell of Reed City, Eugene "Bud" (Sue) Daniel of Ithaca, and Sherry (Brian) Wohlscheid of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Matthew Daniel (Alisha), Kelly (Josh) Strouse, A.J. (Andrea) Russell, Karley (Mitch) McDonald, and Alexa Wohlscheid; great grandchildren, Elijah, Brianne, Savannah, Blake, Jackson, Layla, Liam, Merrek, Arianna, and Max. Each one carries forward her legacy of love, resilience, and joy. Also surviving are her siblings, Jeanette Martin of Clearwater, FL, Patricia (Joe) Frost of Shepherd, Glenda (Ken) Scheezley of St. Louis, Rod (Nora) Palmer of St. Louis, and Roy (Shannon) Palmer of Largo, FL; in-laws, Bonnie Palmer, Dorothy Cowdrey, Rita Oswald, Bernadette Howell, Jim Daniel, and Dennis Daniel; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Agnes Palmer; husband, Albert Daniel; infant daughter, Joni Kay Daniel; brothers, John Palmer and Daniel Palmer; and several siblings-in-law.

As a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Barbara’s greatest accomplishment was her family, and she spoke often of the pride she took in her home and the people who filled it. Those who knew her best remember Barbara not only for her talents and the adventures she sought, but for the kindness and humor she shared so freely.

Family and friends are invited to honor Barbara’s life at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S Lincoln Rd, Mount Pleasant, MI, with visitation on Wednesday, August 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 6th at Mount St. Joseph Catholic Church (Nativity of the Lord Parish), 605 S Franklin St, St. Louis, MI. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before Mass. Father Dan Christe will preside with Father Adam Maher as homilist. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Alma.

Barbara Ann Daniel lived a life rich in love, kindness, and adventure. Her laughter, wisdom, and generosity will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
