Barbara Jean Mchugh

Barbara "Bobbie" McHugh, 95, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Crestwood Assisted Living. She was born February 12, 1926, in Edmore, Michigan, daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Allen) Harkness. A graduate of Edmore High School, Bobbie earned her bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University. She was known to be very athletic, excelling in basketball in both her high school and college years. On June 26, 1948, Bobbie married Michael McHugh in Big Rapids. They shared nearly 73 years of marriage together before his passing in February of 2021. During that time Bobbie and Mike traveled extensively in their travel trailer during the summer months, well into their 80's. Under her husband's tutelage, she became an experienced fly fisher and joined the group, The Fly Girls. Bobbie was an excellent teacher. Her career spanned time in Weidman and Pinconning before ultimately retiring from Chippewa Hills. Bobbie is survived by three sons, Mike (Doris) McHugh of Remus, Pat (Debra) McHugh of Coral Springs, FL and Tom (Debra) McHugh of Cadillac; grandchildren, Mike (Rochelle) McHugh, Jason (Jessica) McHugh, Kristoffer (Jodi) McHugh, Ryan (Sheelah) McHugh, Chad (Alissa) McHugh; eleven great grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth (Margie) Harkness of Edmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Mary Harkness; husband, Michael S. McHugh.
