Barbara B. Toland, 99, of Onekama and formerly of Ann Arbor died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging in Manistee (457 River St., Manistee, MI 49660) or to The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant (400 S. Crapo, Mt. Pleasant MI 48858). Barbara was born August 17, 1903, in Flint, the daughter of Newell and Genevieve (Dennison) Smith. She spent her childhood in Charlotte and graduated from Charlotte High School and later married William Toland on February 26, 1951. Together they owned and operated Palmer Photography Studio in Ann Arbor. She was an Eastern Star member and belonged to the Methodist church. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the Detroit Red Wings. Barbara is survived by 10 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1982; two sisters; and three brothers; one niece; and one nephew. Barbs spirit for life was a prime example for all that knew her. Shell be greatly missed.
