Bernard "Gene" Eugene Miller

Bernard Gene Miller, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 6 from 4-7 p.m. at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Gene was born June 24, 1935, son of Bernard and Ruth Irene (OBrien) Miller. He married Mary Jones on July 27, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked and retired from Central Asphalt (previously Hicks Company) as a heavy equipment mechanic. Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; five childen, Karen (Paul) Gross of Mt. Pleasant, Karla (Doug) Stewart of Petoskey, Kal Miller of Jackson, Bernie (Darlene) Miller of Beal City and Dan (Julie) Miller of Beal City; two daughters-in-law, Carolyn Miller of Beaverton and Michele Miller of Midland; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Reihl of Beal City and Irene Barnard of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Matt in 2009 and Ken in 2014; brothers, Wayne and Pat; sister, Jane Hartupee; and granddaughter, Samantha Pappas.
