Bernard Wentworth, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by family. A Funeral Mass for Bernie will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Bernie was born August 24, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, one of 10 children born to the late Sylvester E. and Mable (Dora) Wentworth. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He married Sharon Hendershot on November 29, 1958, at Sacred Heart Church. Bernie owned and operated Wentworth Builders, specializing in custom wood projects and residential homes. He had also worked for Leonard Refinery for 18 years during that time. Bernie enjoyed his time in the military as he was able to see most of Europe. He enjoyed traveling, hunting at the cabin in the Upper Peninsula, but more than anything, loved to be with his family. Bernie is survived by six children, Timothy (Pam) Wentworth and Steven (Kelly Browne) Wentworth, both of Mt. Pleasant, Julie (Bob) Sanders of Lake Isabella, Mark Wentworth of Arizona, Mable (Dave) Wanink of Wakefield, and Mathew Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant; Daughter in Law, Andrea Wentworth; 11 grandchildren, Jordan, Chance, Nicole, Marisa, Samuel, Paxton, Lexi, Ashton, Truman, Tyler, and Taryn; great-grandchildren, Elise and Gauge, Nova and her twin siblings expected very soon; seven siblings, James Wentworth of Lake Isabella, Richard Dick Bev Wentworth of Auburn, Chuck (Sue) Wentworth of Florida, Pat Brown of Rosebush, Don (Phyllis) Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, Ted (Rose) Wentworth of Sterling Heights, and Mike (Patty) Wentworth of Clare; two sisters in-law, Alma Wentworth and Connie Wentworth, both of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; son, Brian Wentworth; grandson, Shane Wentworth; and two brothers, Daniel Wentworth and Larry Wentworth.
