Bert Fodor, 85, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Grass Lake, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at his home in Mt. Pleasant with his family by his side. Bert was born December 6, 1937, in Wyandotte, Michigan, son of the late Bert and Elizabeth (Boros) Fodor. After graduating from Fordson High School (Dearborn) in 1955, Bert enlisted in the Air National Guard, serving for six years. In 1955, he also began his 30-year career at Ford Motor Company where he retired in 1985. Bert married the love of his life, Nancy Kalis, in Dearborn on April 11, 1959. That marriage was blessed with four children, Scott, Todd, Troy, and Bessheen. A true outdoorsman, who loved to travel, Bert co-founded Fodor's Choose and Cut Christmas Tree Farm in 1967 in Grass Lake. He later founded Fodor Timber Inc. in 1984, also in Grass Lake. He had operated the tree farm for over 50 years and the timber company for over 20 years. In 2018, he and Nancy moved to Mt. Pleasant. Bert was a loving husband to Nancy and great father to his four children, Scott (Trudy) Fodor of Barryton, Todd (Kelly) Fodor of Grass Lake, Troy (Denise) Fodor of Sunnyside, WA and Bessheen Baker of Mt. Pleasant; and sister in law, Carolynn Fodor of Farmington Hills. Also, left to cherish his memory are his 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bert was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass for Bert will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to Mass. Following the Mass, all are invited to a meal in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Bert will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery (Winn) Thursday afternoon. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a future donation of their choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. To sign the online guest book or leave a condolence for the family please visit www.CharlesRLux.com.
