Blanche Pung, 90, of Beal City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Patrick Jankowiak presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph The Worker School, Isabella County Medical Care Facility, or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Blanche was born May 7, 1920, in Isabella County, one of three daughters to the late Michael and Minnie (Neff) Finnerty. She married Bernard A. Pung on May 9, 1939, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City and their marriage lasted 51 years, until his death in 1990. A life member of St. Joseph Parish, Blanche was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women and was also involved with the 4-H program. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and was famous to her grandchildren for her banana bread. She was the strong and loving matriarch of her family and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She will be remembered for her love of life and family, especially the little children, her quick wit, and finding the positive side of everyone and everything. Blanche is survived by seven children, Mary Jo (Tom) Hoffman of Mt. Pleasant, William (Beverly) Pung of Beal City, Jeanette (Dale) Gatehouse of Weidman, Wendell (Bonnie) Pung of Dewitt, Bernadette (Jonn) Bland of Mt. Pleasant, Michael (Loretta) Pung of Lake Isabella, and Catherine McConkie of Shepherd; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Florence Schafer of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard in 1990; great-granddaughter, Addison Courtney; great-grandsons, Ethan and Nathan Onstott; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Charles Schafer; brother-in-law, Howard Schafer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Pat Finnerty, Irene and Ed Fedewa, Walt Theisen, Harry and Edwardine Pung, and Steve and Rosie Pung. Blanches family would like to thank the staff at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility for their excellent care.
