Bob Hodges, 87, of Crystal, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Crystal with Pastor Gene Haymaker of Maranatha Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant officiating. Burial will follow in Entrican Cemetery in Montcalm County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Tendercare Dementia Unit of Mt. Pleasant. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Bob was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Carson City, son of the late Truman and Leota (Brannan) Hodges. He married LaVon Young on Oct. 9, 1948 in Stanton. He was employed by McKinley Trucking in Carson City until he was 50. He then worked for Gibson Refrigeration in Greenville until his retirement in 1989. Bob loved horses and traveling with his wife (and visited all 50 states). He was a member of Montcalm Sherriffs Possie. Bob is survived by two daughters, Krista (Lanny) Prout of Rosebush and Robin (Mike) August of Crystal; four grandchildren, Steven (Shannon) Prout of Shepherd and Shelly (Mike) Nelson of Rosebush and Melissa (Todd) Smith of Charlotte and Sara (Rich) White of Carson City; and 10 great-grandchildren, Teresa, Alex and Skylar, Nick and Olivia, Haylee and Baylee, and Tyler, Cameron and Kieara. He will also be missed by his dear friends Jeff Barber, Carol Barber, Lois Sandbrook and Pete and Cindy Enbody. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaVon Hodges in 2011; sister, June Hodges in 1940; and twin great-grandsons, Alexander and Andrew in 2000.
