Bonnie Carey, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at her residence with family by her side. Bonnie was born November 28, 1932, the daughter of the late Ford C. and Grace E. (Hill) Ward. Her marriage to James Wentworth was blessed with seven children, James, Richard, Diane, David, Victoria, Jeffery, and Joseph. After working for Ferro Manufacturing in Mt. Pleasant, Bonnie took a job at Kroger's where she worked for over 20 years, retiring as a cashier. She married Richard Carey and in 1998 they moved to South Carolina. The two enjoyed time on the beach, golfing, riding motorcycles, and playing cards. Bonnie also found joy in shopping, going to the movies, and being in the company of her beloved canines. She is survived by her seven children, James (Sandy) Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, Richard (Anne) Wentworth of Okemos, Diane (Richard) Andre of Murrells Inlet, SC, David (Mary Beth) Wentworth of Myrtle Beach, SC, Victoria Wentworth of Murrells Inlet, SC, Jeffery (Beth) Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, and Joseph (Rebecca) Wentworth of Huntsville, TX; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Donald (Joyce) Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Carey; and siblings, Dale Ward, Dean Ward, Arlene Brown, Doyle Ward and Lorraine Bellinger. Cremation has taken place and Bonnie's memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, August 5, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. A meal will follow. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research or ASPCA (to help save animals).
