Bonnie J. McGuire, 80, of Mt. Pleasant died Wed., January 9, 2002 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There will be a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at 3 p.m. and a vigil service at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Envelopes are availabe at the funeral home. Bonnie was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Newark, OH, the daughter of Edmund and Helen (Dial) Strandburg. She married Leo McGuire, Sr. on Jan. 26, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant. She was employed for 10 years as a nurses aid at CMU Health Services. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and was past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. One of Bonnie's lifelong passions was writing poetry. Some of her works were published. Bonnie is survived by five sons, Dennis (Janice) McGuire of Shepherd, Edmund (Peggy) McGuire of Mt. Pleasant, Mark (Kathy) McGuire of Shepherd, Dan (Natalie) McGuire of Mt. Pleasant and Chris McGuire (Christine Cherven) of Traverse City; two daughters, Colleen (Ken) Harnick of Shepherd and Kathleen DeMoines (Mark Methner) of Coleman; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Donna Reynolds of Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo McGuire, Sr. in 1991; and two brothers, Robert and John Strandburg.
