Bruce Randal Collins

Bruce Collins, 70, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Southgate passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Woodland Hospice surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Father Denis Heames officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service begins. After the service, a luncheon will be served at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday in Our Lady Of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown. Bruce was born March 13, 1944, in Molus, KY, son of the late Ottis Bruce and Lorena (Goley) Collins. He married the love of his life, Elaine Kanalos on Feb. 6, 1965, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Allen Park. Bruce was a Christian family man that loved to spend time at Sunday dinners, weekend drives, listening to music, and muscle cars. His eyes would crinkle with a beautiful smile, lighting up his face when he saw those he loved. He was a gentle and giving soul that will be missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and anyone that ever got to know him. Bruce is survived by his best friend and wife of 50 years, Elaine; their three grown children Teri (John) Spooner of Mt. Pleasant and Gary (Lisa) Collins and Dave (Jill) Collins, both of South Lyon; six grandchildren, Joshua (Karri) Spooner and Alesha Spooner, Justin and Nick Collins, and Lauren and Ava Collins; one sister, Lois Collins of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews: Angie (Kevin) Guilhuly, Stephanie (Chrishon) Kanalos, Michael Kanalos, Michelle (Mark) Hobart, Larry (Barb) Kanalos, Lorena Brunson, Kellie Whigham, Shelly Stewart, Cheri Pietryka, Ron Pietryka, Bryon Martin, Ann Rocheleau, Cathy Armstrong, Denise Machovoe, Diane Mack, Geri Sue Pennavaria, Dawn Mikola; and all of their families. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorena and Ottis Collins; in-laws Steve and Emma Kanalos; and one brother Charles, and four sisters, Janice Collins, Audrey Rocheleau, Patsy Collins and Doris Tuxbury-Collins, and brothers-in-law Robert, Edward, and Ronald Kanalos. The family is very grateful to Allison Klumpp, Lyn Boyce, Fr. Denis Heames, Chaplin Karon Latham, Pastor George Showers, Charles Lux, those that cared for him at Gratiot Family Practice and MidMichigan Gratiot, and all of the very special Woodland Hospice staff that took such good care of Bruce and his family. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice, or St. Marys Campus Parish. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
