Carl Ickes, 77, of Lake, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home on Monday, September 18, 2023.  Carl was born on December 5, 1945, son of the late Nelson and Anne (Yarosevitch) Ickes, in Grand Rapids, MI.  He graduated with the class of 1964 from Creston High School in Grand Rapids.  In 1966, Carl enlisted in the Navy and was in active duty for 2 years and continued his service with the Navy Reserves into 1971.  Carl married the love of his life, Beth Geasler in Grand Rapids, on October 7, 1967, at the St. James Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Jennie Marie, Heather Marie, and Karen Marie.  Carl continued his education at the Grand Rapids Community College and went on to work for the City of Grand Rapids.  After 33 years he retired in 2001. Carl loved watching U of M football and the Detroit Lions.  He enjoyed working with wood, stone carving, stained glass, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and working in his yard.  He had a love for dogs and nature.  Most of all he treasured his time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by so many.  Carl is survived by his wife, Beth; daughters, Heather (Ernesto Govin) Ickes and Karen (Matthew) McDaniel both of Lake; son in law, Marc Fuller of Wesley Chapel, Fl.; sister-in-law, Janice (Bob) Titiev of Grosse Pt. Park; brother-in-law, Keith (Pat) Geasler of Rockford; and nieces, Erica, Christine and Sara.   Carl is preceded in death by both parents; daughter, Jennie Fuller; brother, Gilbert Ickes; and special aunt, Marie Ogaeko.  Cremation has taken place at Memorial Fields Crematory and there are no services scheduled at this time.  To sign the online guest book or leave a condolence for the family please visit www.CharlesRLux.com.
