Carol June (Hayward) Swetz

Carol June Swetz, age 100, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 16, 2023. A Funeral Mass for Carol will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to Mass. Following the Mass, a luncheon will be held at Lincoln Reception Center (2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant). Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Carol was born May 28, 1923, in Elkhart, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ren and Lucy (Esterline) Hayward. She married Joseph Swetz on June 27, 1942, and together they raised their five children on their farm. Carol was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading, and bingo. Carol is survived by her three daughters and two sons; Beverly (Gerald) Bendele of Shepherd; Terry (Jiena) Swetz of West Point, Mississippi; Carolyn Epplett of Saginaw; Darlyn (Jay) Curtiss of Indian River; and Garry Swetz of Mt. Pleasant. She leaves behind 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters; two brothers; a son-in-law; and a grandson.
