Carol Lynn (Running) Sweeney

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Lynn (Running) Sweeney, age 79, who left this world peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her devoted family.

Born and raised in Middlefield, Ohio, Carol later moved to Lakeland, Michigan, then Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, where she built a life filled with hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Over the years, she embraced many roles - working as a hair stylist, bank teller, and in insurance sales - before ultimately becoming the household manager of multiple homes, a role she carried out with grace and care.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Carol was most proud of her family. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother, and grandmother whose warmth and strength touched everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank, who stood faithfully by her side and cared for her throughout her illness; her sons, Donald (Judy) Smith and Jason (Jennifer) Smith; her stepdaughter, Marie (Jeff) Natzel; and her cherished grandchildren Christina, Nathan, Alexandra, Emma, and Sydney, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Mildred Running, and her sister Anita Spitler.

In addition to her devotion to family, Carol found joy in her hobbies. She loved tending to her flowers, spending time on the golf course, and enjoying friendly games of bowling. These passions brought her happiness and connection with friends and loved ones throughout her life.

Her legacy is one of love, perseverance, and devotion to family. She will be remembered for her kindness, her ability to make any house feel like a home, and the joy she brought to those around her.

A private service will be held to honor her life, with family and close friends gathering to celebrate the memories she leaves behind.
