Carol Ann Schneider

Carol Ann Schneider, née DeBoer, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 8, 2026. Born on August 28, 1948, in Kent County, Michigan, Carol led a remarkable life marked by dedication, resilience, and a deep love for her family.

A proud graduate of Central High School in Grand Rapids, Carol continued her education at Grand Rapids Community College, where she pursued studies to become an Obstetrical Technician (OBT). Her career spans nearly five decades of devoted service at the Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital, now known as University of Michigan Health West in Wyoming. Throughout her long tenure, she demonstrated a steadfast work ethic, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues with her spunky and spirited personality. Known for being hardworking, fierce, and never one to give up, Carol’s presence was both inspiring and uplifting to those around her.

On August 25, 1978, she married Richard “Bruce” Schneider in Grand Rapids, sharing many cherished years together. Carol found her greatest pride and joy in her children and grandchildren, embracing her role as a loving mother and grandmother with enthusiasm and warmth. Her interests extended beyond her professional life; she delighted in riding horses, spending time on the water, and nurturing close bonds with her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her children: Delynn (Bill) Evans of Byron Center, Stevan Schneider of Rockford, and Amy Schneider of Comstock Park. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Kaimarie, John, Zachary, and Alexander Evans; Dakota (Savannah) Schneider and Emilee Schneider, and Chloe Schneider, Jaevion (Aaliyah) Conley and Gabriel Conley; as well as several great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her later years. Carol’s loving siblings include Jan (Tom) Czerney of Walker and Dick (Ann) DeBoer of Traverse City. Her sister-in-law, Donna DeBoer of Grand Rapids, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bernadette (Farrell) DeBoer; her husband, Richard “Bruce” Schneider; her brother, Jim DeBoer; and her great-grandson, Waylon Schneider, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Schneider.

Carol Ann Schneider will be remembered as a woman of spirit, determination, and kindness, a cherished pillar within her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her deeply. May she rest in peace.

A funeral mass will be held for Carol at Rush Creek Bible Church on Saturday, August 15th at 11 am, with visitation 1 hour prior. A light lunch will follow the mass. Carol will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband following the luncheon at Oakwood Cemetery in Lowell, MI.
