Carol Delena Smith

Carol Delena Smith, 87, of Shephard, MI, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Born on February 17, 1937, in Kevil, Kentucky, to Hugh Smith and Magdalene (Ramey) Gilkey, Carol was a beloved mother, caregiver, and minister.

In her lifetime, Carol touched the hearts of many with her caring nature and deep faith. As a retired respiratory therapist, she dedicated herself to helping others and found joy in caring for her family members, including her mother, Madge, and her brother, Danny, whom she lovingly looked after until their passing. Carol's unwavering faith in Christ led her to become a minister with Christ of the Nation in 1987, a role she cherished and embraced wholeheartedly.

A true southern belle, Carol was known for her impeccable fashion sense and her love for hosting family gatherings and cooking delicious meals. Family always came first for her, and her warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Brenda Pearlman; son, Robert Walton; brother, Kenny Smith (wife Bonnie); daughters-in-law's, Rita, Connie and Gerry, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Smith and Magdalene Ramey; sons Frank, Dale, James, and Steven Walton; daughter, Linda Walton; along with her siblings Mary and Granville Danny Smith.

Although she may be physically gone, Carol's vibrant spirit, love, and kindness she shared with others will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Carol's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Stephen Hugo officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Carol will be laid to rest in Chippewa Township Cemetery. Flowers donations can be sent to Charles R.
