Carol Ann Panganis, 65, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Escanaba died Friday, March 11, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Father Robert Byrne of Sacred Heart Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m., Sunday from 3-8 p.m., and Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. A prayer service will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life New Hope Campaign at Central Michigan Community Hospital (1221 S. Drive, Mt. Pleasant MI 48858). Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Carol was born April 6, 1939, in Wayland, the daughter of Leland and Kathaleen (Swallow) White. She was crowned Homecoming Queen of Mt. Pleasant High Schools graduating class of 1957 and remained active as a class reunion committee member. In 1965 she moved to Escanaba where she worked for State Bank of Escanaba as a bookkeeper. In 1981 she returned to Mt. Pleasant and worked as a lab technician at Central Michigan Community Hospital for 25 years. She retired in 2001. Some of her favorite pastimes included playing bingo, golfing, gardening, and doing needle crafts. She attended St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with her daughter, Jill. Carol loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her children, Jamie (Brad) Brandt of Escanaba, Steven (Laura) Panganis of Williamston, and Jill (Jim) Cotter of Beal City and their father, Norm Lefty Panganis, a lifelong special friend; grandchildren, Andrew and Jennifer Brandt, Madelyn Panganis, and Noah and Nathan Cotter; sister, Donna (Leslie) Stashi of Sault Ste. Marie; brother, James (Joyce) White of Farwell; sister-in-law, Susan White of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald White; and infant son, Norman Scott Panganis.
