Catherine M. Stevens

Catherine M. Stevens, 55, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 at Central Michigan Community Hospital Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to HATS (Humane Animal Treatment Society). Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Catherine was born July 26, 1951, in Port Huron, the daughter of Stanley and Janetta June (Renno) Zarkowski. She graduated from Port Huron High School in 1969 and received her B.A. from St. Clair Community College. For over 12 years Catherine worked as a dietician at St. Louis Correctional Facility. Prior to that she had worked at Schnepp Health Care Center for five years. She enjoyed bird watching and, because of her deep love for pets, was a big supporter of HATS. Catherine is survived by her son, Timothy (Diane) Stevens of Rochester Hills and grandchildren, Camden and Cameron; three brothers, Stanley R. (Carol) Zarkowski of Port Huron, Daniel (Sandy) Zarkowski of New Port News, Va. and Gary (Michelle) Zarkowski of Greenville; three sisters, Judy (Ray) Martin of Beaverton, Mary (John) Murphy of Mt. Pleasant, and Linda Hitchcock of Milwaukee, Wisc.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
