Cecil Landon, 72, of Zephyrhills, FL, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, had his number come up on Thursday, February 5, 2015. For all the nosey people, he passed away from a massive heart attack while in Zephyrhills. He was truly one of a kind. Cremation has taken place and the family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 2-8 p.m. at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Cecil was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Cecil John and Dorothy (Kelly) Landon. He attended Mt. Pleasant High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he finished his high school education. He served from 1960-1966. He married Mia Jane Fortino on Feb. 19, 1966 at Sacred Heart Church. He retired from Mt. Pleasant Public School Transportation in 2004. He had also worked at Fortino Beverage for 20 years. He had many, many other jobs during his life. His life was rock and roll music and even had his own D.J. service, C.J. the D.J.. He was instrumental in the Vietnam Memorial and bridge at Island Park. He was actively involved with the Sacred Heart Church league basketball and area mens fast pitch softball league. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Cecil is survived by his wife Mia; three children, Stacey (Mark) Moss of Shepherd, Melissa (Don) Zeien of Beal City, Amy (Greg Hansen) Klein of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren (with one on the way); one sister, Katherine (Bob) Cotton of Mt. Pleasant; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family, and many, many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Dr. William and Mary Ruth Fortino; brother, Jack Landon; sister, Patricia Oliver; brother-in-law, David Crippin; niece, Julia Fortino; and son-in-law, Alan Klein.
