Charlene Hayer, 56, of St. Louis and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. Cremation has taken place and a service to remember her life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Atchinson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice, 2597 S. Clemens, MI, daughter of the late Emmett and Betty Louise (Anderson) Hopkins. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1978 and later graduated from M. J. Murphy Beauty College in Mt. Pleasant. On June 10, 1994, she married Charles Hayer in Mt. Pleasant. She was employed by S. Silverberg Finer Jeweler as a sales associate the last 15 years. She was also a licensed cosmetologist. She was known to have a keen eye for interior decorating and antiques, and enjoyed bike riding. Char is survived by her husband, Charles Chuck Hayer of St. Louis; two sons, Brian (Ashley) Malley and Brandon Malley both of Farwell and their father, Pat (Melissa) Malley of Farwell; granddaughter, Ashlynn Malley; brother, Kevin (Kathy) Hopkins of Grand Rapids; and dear friend, Kathy Porter-Paparella of Mt. Pleasant.
