Charlene Joanne Kerby, age 82, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at home with her family by her side. Born on August 23, 1943, in Isabella County, Michigan, Charlene was the second of nine children born to Paul Thomas and Mary Leona (Leffingwell) Myshock. She grew up with her siblings, Carol, Jean, Thomas, Marilyn, Anita, James, Steven, and Carla.
Charlene graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and dedicated her career to being an elder care advocate at Andahwod Assisted Living and the Sowmick Senior Center for many years. She was a passionate sports fanatic, enjoyed playing Bingo, playing cards at the Eagles Club in Mt. Pleasant, watching bull riding, and tending to her beautiful flowers and plants. Family was everything to her, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charlene's marriage to Jack Moutsatson was blessed with a son, Christopher, and her marriage to Wayne Kerby was blessed with a daughter, Malissa.
Charlene is survived by her children, Christopher (Judy) Moutsatson of Traverse City and Malissa Kerby (Eric Sowmick) of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Jordan (Christina) Moutsatson and Chey Kahgegab, and Bodaway Kahgegab; great grandchildren, Brayzen, Zayden, Waasenoode, and Haze; siblings, Jean Amick of Weidman, Thomas (Michelle) Myshock of Weidman, Marilyn (James) Toney of Mt. Pleasant, Anita (Robert) Battleshaw of Lake Isabella, and Carla Birk of Weidman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Leona Myshock; siblings, Carol Cantu, James Myshock, and Steven Myshock.
Charlene's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Carey Barker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. A luncheon will follow in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home).
Memorial contributions may be made to MyMichigan Hospice , or envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
