Charles F. Gill, 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. And because of his love for dogs, memorials may also be made to HATS (Humane Animal Treatment Society). Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Charles was born Jan. 17, 1934 in Shawnee, Ohio, the son of Everett and Iila (Wilcox) Gill. He married Carole Stahl on Dec. 31, 1955 at the Church of God in Mt. Pleasant. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in 1952, Charles worked as a carpenter for Vol Courtright for 14 years and also for Collison Construction in Midland. He also worked at Dougs Small Engine. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, camping, yard sales, and collecting antiques. Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carole Gill of Mt. Pleasant. Together they had five children Lynette Price of Mt. Pleasant, Douglas (Marlene) Gill of Rosebush, the late James Gill and his wife, Mary Gill of Mt. Pleasant, Suzette (Tom) Bechtel of Mt. Pleasant, and Martin Gill of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald (Dot) Gill of Arizona; his sister, Gloria Haggart of Rosebush; and his faithful yellow lab, Sy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett in 1988 and Iila in 2003; and his son, James Gill in 2005.
