Charles A. Reihl, 75, of the Remus area passed away peacefully Friday, September 26, 2003 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding and Father John Cotter concelebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. There will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Charlie was born May 8, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of John and Mary (Miller) Reihl. He married Frances V. Carey on February 7, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church. The majority of his life was spent farming but he also worked 13 years for John Deere as a mechanic. He later worked in maintenance at Consolidated Apartments, also lasting 13 years. He is a member of Sacred Heart Parish and former member of St. Joseph Parish in Beal City, serving both churches as an usher. He has been a member of the Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651 since 1952 and was currently serving as Grand Knight. He enjoyed playing cards and hunting rabbits and deer. Charlie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances of Remus; three daughter, Mary Lou (Ken) Ray of Mt. Pleasant, Sharon (Bill) Brown of Lake Isabella and Linda (Dale) Ellis of Remus; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; three brothers, John Reihl of Brighton, Walter (Alice) Reihl of Beal City and Robert (Patricia) Reihl of Blanchard; three sisters, Regina Smith of Beal City, Marie McIntyre of Kewadin and Theresa Maeder of Weidman; one brother-in-law, Raymond Hauck of Weidman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Franklin and Joseph; and one sister, Veronica Fronie Hauck.
