Christina Simmer, 58, of Beal City, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family, after a six year battle with dementia. She was born March 8, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of John R. and Anne (Watts) Jenerou. A 1984 graduate of Beal City High School, Christina married David Simmer on June 7, 1985, at the Weidman Church of the Nazarene. She was employed by Central Michigan University as a custodian for 26 years. Prior to that, she had worked at the Beal City Tavern. Some of Christina's favorites included camping, playing cards, watching movies, and going to concerts. Michigan's upper peninsula was her favorite place to visit. More than anything, she loved her grandson, Gavin, and her faithful canine companion, Mia. Christina leaves behind her husband, David; sons, Troy Simmer of Mt. Pleasant and Travis (Kristin) Simmer of Weidman; grandson, Gavin Simmer; parents, John (Anne) Jenerou; siblings, Melissa (Andrew) Race of Lake Isabella and John (Kelly) Jenerou of Jacksonville, FL; and mother in-law, Margaret Simmer of Beal City. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Aiden Simmer; grandparents, Jack and Virginia Watts from Newnan, GA; father in-law, Gerald Simmer; and brother in-law, Andrew Simmer. Cremation has taken place at Memorial Fields Crematory. Christina's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 1, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to PACE. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
