Clara Waskerwitz, 80, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, September 1, 2002 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 9-10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Clara was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Flint, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Wrabel. She married Daniel Waskerwitz on April 6, 1946, in Flint. She and her husband owned and operated Dittmans Shoes and Antiques in downtown Mt. Pleasant. She had been running the store since her husbands death in 1989. She enjoyed collecting antiques, a passion that started in 1950. That passion turned into a business as she became an antique dealer and sold them for 25 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the business community for 25 years. Clara is survived by her son, Kent (Karrie) Waskerwitz of Okemos; her daughter, Lynn Delcourt of West Bloomfield; one granddaughter, Jamie Waskerwitz; three sisters, Frances (Gary) Hilts of Traverse City, Elma Wrabel of Flint and Pat Strudgeon of Howell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel in 1989; her brother, Joseph Wrabel; and sister, Ethel Kramer. All downtown business associates, long-time friends, long-time customers of Dittmans Shoe store and Antique store are most welcome to attend visitation and the funeral.
