Bill Collin, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Woodland Hospice. A Funeral Mass for Bill will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Lux Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant on Friday from 4-7 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Bill was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Clifford William and Dorothy Margaret (McNerney) Collin. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in 1959, Bill married Catherine Ottney on April 28, 1962, at Sacred Heart Church. He owned and operated Collin Oil Company and worked several years as an independent land man. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. Bill loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, gardening and fishing. Bill is survived by four children, William (Viola) Collin of Midland, Christine (Ross) Smith of Vine Grove, KY, Amy (Pablo) Davila of Fowlerville and Brian (Amy Randall) Collin of Rosebush; two grandchildren, Abigail and Erika Collin; one great-grandson, James Collin Niesz; siblings, Sue (Don) Fuller of Mt. Pleasant, Jim (Julie) Collin of Mt. Pleasant, Dave (Nancy) Collin of LaPorte, IN, Jon (Theresa) Collin of Mt. Pleasant, Marie Fussman of Beal City, Catherine Casey (John) Nelson of Mt. Pleasant and G. Paul Collin of Santa Barbara, CA; two brothers-in-law, Bill Finch of San Jose, CA and Garry Veit of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Catherine in 1997; two sisters, Ginger Finch, and Patricia Veit; and brother, Dennis Collin.
