Dale E. Klumpp

Dale Klumpp, 85, of Winn, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by family. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., with his brother-in-law, John Strazanac officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging or Mid Michigan Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dale was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Lincoln Township, Isabella County, the son of the late Earnest and Leila (Johnson) Klumpp. A graduate of Shepherd High School in 1945, he married Patricia Pat Gross on June 20, 1948, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. A farmer his entire life, Dale also worked 10 years as a welder, and later foreman, for Morbark Industries until 1975. He then took a job as a heavy machine operator for Isabella Corporation. He was one of the original founders of the Dushville Sportsman Club in Manistique in 1960 and only missed going two years since that time.He was an avid hunter and loved animals, especially his horses. Dale is survived by five children, Dan (Dorothy Davidson) Klumpp and Doug (Joyce) Klumpp both of Winn, Dick (Monica) Klumpp of Alma, Penny (Mark) Nix of Centerville, TX and Paula (Andy Marshall) Dean of Okemos; 11 grandchildren, Kim (Jim) Sagi, Karen (Walt) Bunker and Dawn Klumpp, Cassie Klumpp, Tim Klumpp and Adam (Whitney) Klumpp, Jennifer (Kurt) Thrush, Brian (Stephanie) Turnwald, and Stacy and Emily Turnwald, and Morgan Dean; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Herbert (Jeanette) Klumpp of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law, Lacretia Klumpp of Winn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat in 1990; brothers, Kenneth, Orville and Ronald Klumpp; and sister, Elsie Elliott.
