Daniel Richard O’Neil

Daniel O'Neil, aged 69, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at his residence. Born on January 31, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (Reginek) O'Neil. Daniel was a dedicated criminal defense attorney at O'Neil and Lynch until his retirement in 2020. He was passionate about golf, hockey, and was an avid fan of the Red Wings and Tigers. Daniel also coached hockey for many years and cherished his time at the cottage and boating on 8 Point Lake. His travels, especially to Florida, were filled with cherished memories, and he particularly enjoyed taking his granddaughter to the movies. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Cobane, whom he married on July 14, 1986, in Hawaii. He leaves behind his sons, Patrick (Caitlyn) O'Neil of Van Buren Township and Colin O'Neil of Lake, and his grandchildren, Prestynn and Paxton. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Marge) O'Neil of Taylor, Peggy (Carl) Yunk of New Boston, Patty (Tony) Claypool of New Boston, and Kathy (Mark Dickinson) O'Neil of Taylor, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service to honor Daniel's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, with Daryl Amrozowicz officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Following the service, a meal will be served in the Lincoln Reception Center, attached to the funeral home.
