Daniel Patrick Quillen

Daniel Quillen, 64, of Hastings, formally of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 21, 2023. Daniel was born on May 28, 1959, son of the late Patrick and Hedwig (Neyer) Quillen in Mt. Pleasant.  He was a graduate from Sacred Heart Academy with the class of 1978.  Dan continued his education at Ferris State College, receiving his associate degree and a license for auto mechanic.  He currently was employed for the last 23 years, by Todd Wenzel Buick GMC in Grand Rapids.  Dan liked to tinker and looked for great deals at garage sales. In his younger years, he liked to ride horseback.   He enjoyed watching YouTube videos, talking about politics, and discussing his Irish ancestry.   Dan would never turn down ice cream or pistachio cupcakes. Dan had a good heart and was always the first to volunteer his time to help, especially when it came to fixing vehicles of his family and friends. The most important time for him was that spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Dan is survived by his children, Jessica (Jacob) Wilson of Plainwell and Rachel Quillen of Miami, FL; grandchildren, James and Jensen Wilson; siblings, Carol Quillen of Beal City, Michael Quillen of Mecosta, Connie Miller of Martinez, CA, Barbara Crandall of Beal City, Deborah Predmesky of Graham, NC, Brian Quillen of St. Johns, Heidi Quillen of Mt. Pleasant, and Julie (Phil) Gross of Beal City; and brother in-law, John Judge of Winn. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Judge; brother, Mark Quillen; and brothers in-law, Jerry Miller and Marty Predmesky. A Funeral Mass for Daniel will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home). The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Wishes of Family (checks written to Jessica Wilson). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
