Darcey Jo Powell

Darcey Jo Powell, 57 passed away Sunday April 13, 2025. Darcey was a very special person, born with Down Syndrome she had a way of capturing the world in a different way than most. Darcey was a very happy person, everyone loved her. She had an amazing memory, remembering names, dates and so much more. She loved pouring over family photos that further ingrained the names, dates and events into her memory. She didn't talk a lot, but knew how to make sure her wishes were known. She was particular about what she liked and didn't like. She loved chocolate chip cookies so much it earned her the nickname Cookie Monster. She gave great hugs, but hardly ever a kiss, that was reserved for special people. Just know that if you got a pat on the head she liked you. Our princess will forever be missed by her family and friends.

Darcey was born on July 8, 1967 to George "Ed" and Barbara (Strang) Powell in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Debbie (Powell) Searles and brother-in-law William Rushcamp. Darcey is survived by her brother David (Tina) Powell of Lake Isabella, sister Doriann Rushcamp of Lansing and brother Dirk (Theresa) Powell of DeWitt, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and
great nephews.

A private burial in Benzonia, Michigan will take place at a later date where she will be laid to eternal rest beside her parents and sister.
