Darlayne Joyce Flynn

Darlayne Flynn, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for Darlayne will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, November 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Sunday, November 25, from 4:30-7 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Smile or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church. Darlayne was born July 30, 1923, in Luck, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Martin and Nora (Thomson) Hanson. Over the course of her work life, Darlayne was employed as an office professional, a paraprofessional reading specialist, and a civil aviation weather observer. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Mt. Pleasant where she was active in both the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Bible Study. She was one of a group of women that started The Legion of Mary at Sacred Heart Parish in Gladwin, and was also a founding member of Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant. Darlayne was an avid golfer and bowler, and in later years transitioned to gardening and cards. Darlayne is survived by six children, Pat (Darla) Flynn of Bloomer, WI, Carol Henson of Farmington Hills, Mike (Jan) Flynn of Gladwin, Mary (Denny) Starnes of Mt. Pleasant, Katie Felke of Rochester, IN, and Rick Flynn of Grand Rapids; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Darlayne was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, LaVonne Iverson Peterson, Carol Gornowich, and Dianne Eibs; brother, Marlin Hanson; and son-in-law James Felke.
