Jeff Heintz, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. A Funeral Mass for Jeff will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Cremation will take place following Mass and his ashes will be interred in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church. Jeff was born December 6, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Robert and Margaret R. Tat (Munt) Heintz. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1965. He was vice-president and part owner of Mt. Pleasant Supply where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and volunteered on the funeral luncheon committee. Some of his favorite pastimes were spending summers at Eight Point Lake, hunting, golfing and playing cards. He was an avid fan of CMU basketball and football, but more than anything, loved spending time with his family. Jeff is survived by four children, Renee (Steven) Tomasello of Troy, Tracey (Michael) Johnson of Toledo, OH, Jessica (Scott) Hamilton of Leander, TX, and Andrea Heintz of Mt. Clemens; two step-daughters, Melissa VanAlstine of Mt. Pleasant, and Jessica (Charlie) Gross of Beal City; 16 grandchildren, Gabrielle (Victor), Victoria, Sophia, Spencer, Griffin, Parker, Ian, Owen, Avery, Reese, Tyler, Tucker, Easton, Wyatt, Camren, and Kellen; two great-grandchildren, Mario and Amelia; seven siblings, Rochelle (James) Flake of Fenton, Bob (Connie) Heintz of DeWitt, Mike (Margo) Heintz, and Joe (Linda) Heintz, all of Mt. Pleasant, Kathleen Fountain of Grand Ledge, Daniel (Cheryl) Heintz of Grand Rapids, and Pat (Leslee) Heintz of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob (1972) and Tat Heintz (2016); wife, Jackie (2016); and niece, Katie Heintz (2005).
