Darryl John Yuncker, 54, of Midland and formerly of Beal City, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass for Darryl will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. Cremation will take place following the Mass and his ashes will be interred in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Darryl was born September 17, 1962, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Evan J. and Madeline Joan (Recker) Yuncker. He graduated from Beal City High School in 1980 and received his Associates Degree in Business from Mid Michigan Community College. He managed the Overpass Bar in Midland for 35 years. He was an avid sports fan, especially for Detroit pro sports teams. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing and reading the Detroit Free Press every day. But more than anything, Darryl loved his family. He had a very big heart. Darryl is survived by his mother, Joan Yuncker of Lake Isabella; five siblings, Cheryl (Randy) Rawluszki of Wayland, Joe (Kim) Yuncker of Shepherd, Edward Yuncker (Kim Ovaitt) of Beal City, Cary (Becky) Yuncker of Houghton Lake, and Marsha (Craig) Zeneberg of Lake Isabella; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; aunts and uncles, Marilyn Recker, Don and Jo Riley, William and Wilda Recker, Larry and Karen Recker, Clarence and Onalee Recker, Betty and Ron Wawersik, Arlene and Don Cotter, Joyce Yuncker, Dolores and Don Krueger, and Linda Yuncker; and many friends from the Overpass Bar. He was preceded in death by his father, Evan Yuncker in 2001; paternal grandparents, Herb and Ella Yuncker; maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Ulah Recker; and aunts and uncles, Gerald and Norma Recker, Donna and Victor Boge, Robert Recker, Agnes Riley, Shirley and Harley Ayris, Richard Yuncker and LaVern Yuncker.
