David Brock, 66, of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at home, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Ron Vredeveld officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. In honor of Dave, the family requests casual dress. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. David was born June 27, 1941, in Manistique, the son of Golden and Geraldine (Gauthier) Brock. He graduated from Manistique High School in 1959. On January 28, 1961 he married Karen Smith at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. They moved to Mt. Pleasant that same year. He received his nursing degree from Delta College. He retired in 1992 after 30 years at the Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities and 10 years part-time at Central Michigan Community Hospital. For 13 years he was a crossing guard at Ganiard Elementary. Some of Davids favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and camping. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by not only his family, but also by his friends and the many other children for which he was a father figure. David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Brock of Mt. Pleasant; five children, Michele (Thomas) Brossard of Marathon, FL, Michael Brock of Grand Rapids, Todd (Amy) Brock of Shepherd, Rhonda Brock of Mt. Pleasant, and Shawn Brock of Ithaca; eight grandchildren, Gaby and Marisa Brossard, Mason, Kate, and Kennedy Brock, Kaitlyn and Justin Brock, and Matthew Brock; and his faithful companion, Taffy. His parents preceded him in death.
