David J. Krcmarik

David J. Krcmarik, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Stone Lodge Memory Care in Shepherd surrounded by family. Born on March 19, 1950, in Flint, Michigan, he was the son of the late Cyril Vincent and Anastasia Mary (Slamka) Krcmarik. David graduated from Maple Grove St. Michael's High School in 1968, where he lettered in football and baseball. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after being diagnosed with Type I Diabetes.

David pursued higher education at Central Michigan University, earning both bachelor's and master's degrees. He dedicated his career to helping others as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Michigan, retiring in 2006. In 1981, he met Patricia Stangle, the love of his life, at the Bird Bar and Grill in Mt. Pleasant. They married on June 25, 1983, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and were blessed with two children, Victoria and Stephen.

A devout Catholic, David was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Knights of Columbus Council 1297, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing poker. Known for his quick wit and practical jokes, David's sense of humor left a lasting legacy among his family. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren at his cottage in Beulah, as family was of utmost importance to him.

David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patty; two children, Vicki (Chris) Wakeman of Midland and Stephen Krcmarik of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, David and Patrick Wakeman; two siblings, Kathie Barrett (Dick Parslow) of Massachusetts and Jeff (Claudia) Krcmarik of Ann Arbor; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass for David will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Loren Kalinowski will preside. A luncheon will take place at Lincoln Reception Center attached to the Funeral Home immediately following the mass. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday, March 6, from 4-7 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour before Mass. A private family burial will take place on a later date.
