Debra Kay Lackie

Debra Lackie, 59, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at MidMichigan Healthcare System in Midland. A Funeral Mass for Debra will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, January 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 6 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Debra was born October 22, 1958, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of Thomas J. and Shirleen T. (Cotter) Gepford. A 1976 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Debra earned her masters degree from Central Michigan University. She married Richard Lackie on September 22, 1990, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an elementary teacher at Montabella Community Schools. Prior to that she had taught at St. Cecilias School in Clare. She loved her family very much and was very involved in her husbands and childrens sporting events. She spent her winters in Palmetto, FL. Debra is survived by her two children, Brett Lackie and Rachel Lackie, both of Shepherd; her mother, Shirleen Gepford of Rosebush, siblings, Gregory (Jane) Gepford of Mt. Pleasant, Deonna (Alan) Kremsreiter of Shepherd, and Tiffany Gepford (Chad Gittus) and Jeremy Gepford, both of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Gepford in 2006; and husband Richard Lackie in 2012.
