Deloris I. Hembree

Deloris Hembree, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant. Cremation has taken place with services to be announced later. Deloris was born May 31, 1925, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Harry and Nellie (Cain) Pontius. She married Gilbert Hembree on Dec. 22, 1948, in Topeka. She received her Bachelor of English from the College of Emporia in Kansas. A lover of literature, music, and fine arts, she was also a Girl Scout leader and camp director. Deloris is survived by four children: Jan Hembree of Milwaukee, WI, Cynthia (Dan) Lee of Remus, Mark (Georgia) Hembree of Oconomowoc, WI, and Marshall Hembree of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her brother, Neal Pontius of Hudson, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; and daughter, Suzanne Steward.
