Dennis Finnerty, 49, of Beal City, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011, at home. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Patrick Jankowiak presiding. The family will receive friends at the gathering room of the church on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker School or Central Michigan Right To Life. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Dennis was born Sept. 14, 1961, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Robert J. and Maxine E. (Streng) Finnerty. A graduate of Beal City High School in 1981, Dennis was a member of St. Joseph Parish and the Beal City Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming, hunting, raising chickens and spending time with family and friends. He took a special pride in helping his mom look after Finnerty Park which has been enjoyed by many. In August of 1990, Dennis suffered a closed head injury. Dennis is survived by his daughter and his pride and joy, Elyse Finnerty of Mt. Pleasant; parents, Robert and Maxine Finnerty of Beal City; siblings, Duane (Patty) Finnerty, Denise (Mark) Yuncker, DeAnn (Bill) Millard and Dale (Jane) Finnerty, all of Beal City, Dan (Shannon) Finnerty of Wooster, OH, Denell (Kevin) Scully of Rosebush and Dominic (Stacy) Finnerty of Beal City; and 23 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Patrick and Dorothy Finnerty and Joseph and Dorothy Streng.
